Dance Esteem Ballet Program

Takami Craddock was born and raised in Japan. She received her BA in Modern Dance at Nihon University College of Arts. After she moved to United States, she began performing and teaching in New York, Baltimore, Washington DC, and San Francisco.

Since she moved to San Francisco in 1991 as an independent choreographer and performer, she became a co-founder of San Francisco Butoh Festival 1994 - 1999. Takami has been invited to lead workshops and perform in Tokyo, Thailand and France.

She also is passionate about teaching children. She started to teach children dance classes at Noe Valley Ministry in 1996 and also worked with the Performing Arts Workshop for a decade and taught all over in the Bay Area public schools Kindergarten through 5th grade. In 1998 she started a children's dance program called "DancEsteem" for children 3 to 18 years old. 2008 DancEsteem found the home studio in Noe Vally, called MoBu Dance Studio. (MoBu means "True Dance in Japanese Kanji character)

This year DancEsteem celebrated 17th annual performance at Palace of Fine Arts. Also participated Prague Dance Festival in Chez Republic as second time. DancEsteem placed 3rd in choreography and awarded City of Prague awards.

Takami belived that dance is a tool of life. She encourage students to open eyes in many ways to dance. DancEsteem also has a cultural exchange program between Japan. This program is with her home town Numazu city, Shizuoka with Sanae Hara Dance Academy. Next year will be the 11th year since we started this program.
